Where were you born?

Boulder, Colorado

When did you know you wanted to be a designer?

I was in art school studying glass blowing and sculpture and just returned from an artist in residence program in Tallinn Estonia and working for a glass artist in Germany. I realized while I love the independence and open ended-ness of being a fine artist… I was more drawn to applying those creative proclivities to solving pragmatic and spatial concerns.

What is your design philosophy?

My design work philosophy is to apply insights from my observations on the human condition, spatial character and materiality to the problem at hand.

Do you volunteer anywhere in your community?

I taught advanced architecture studios (with Peter Pfau) for many years at CCA and feel very connected to that community.

Do you play a musical instrument?

I play the harmonica and am in the process of learning the guitar.

Do you enjoy actively participating in a sport?

I played volleyball in college and plan to get back into this summer.

Is cooking high or low on your list of priorities?

I love to cook with friends and family.
