LGBT Community Center

November 21, 2014
The Cee-Pfau Collaborative, (a joint venture) designed this competition-wining scheme for San Francisco’s Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender Community Center, now under construction in the Castro district. The design concept transforms the symbol of a flame into a spatial idea which links together all of the building’s community spaces. It also expresses itself in the translucent-paneled Market Street façade which admits natural light during the day to main public spaces. At night, its glowing form is figurative and candle-like to provide a visible urban presence and draw the community together.
