Paramount Film Archives

November 25, 2014
Located in their Hollywood lot, Paramount Pictures Film and Tape Archives extends beyond its original function to support a variety of additional filming and lot operation activities. In addition to housing Paramount’s advanced editing wing, this technically demanding building ships, receives, retrieves, and stores over one million units of film and tape worth billions of dollars under museum-quality security and climate control. The building re-constructs and incorporates a scenic “sky” backdrop, which existed on the film lot since the 30’s and was featured in naval scenes in historic films such as “Mutiny on the Bounty”, and “Tora Tora.” The exposed structure behind the complex and extensive mechanical apparatus required to deliver the buildings technical requirements.
